Scorers for Rumney : P.Nash try, M.Maclean penalty

Rumney made a reasonable start to the match but frequently gave away possession, allowing the Croesyceiliog pack to take control and play a tight game, forcing their way into the visitors' twenty two for long periods. Ryan Sutton provided a steady supply of good possession from the lineout, but dropped passes and knocks on behind gave the home side the opportunity to stop any promising attacks. After twenty minutes Croesyceiliog flanker Saunders made a brilliant break and outside half and captain Matthew Entwistle finished off the move with the try and conversion, opening the scoring at 7 - 0. Within five minutes home No8 Thomas pounced on a Rumney mistake and sprinted forty metres for a well taken try and ten minutes later, centre Davies gathered another loose ball and beat off tacklers for his side's third try. Rumney lock Andrew Gardner, flanker Sutton and prop Luke Egan launched strong forward runs but at half time the score read Croesyceiliog 19 Rumney 0.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Rumney continuing to give away possession, concede penalties and throw out poor loose passes, and ten minutes after the restart Davies kicked a penalty to increase the lead to 22 - 0. There was no further scoring for twenty minutes until a good passing movement between the home forwards and backs put left wing Walker in for a corner try, and two more penalties gave Croesyceiliog a 33 - 0 lead with only five minutes remaining. Just before the final whistle visiting wing Matthew Maclean finally opened up the home side's defence with a scything break which outside half Paul Nash finished off with a touchdown, Maclean's conversion bringing the game to and end at 33 - 7 and marking Rumney's third league defeat in a row.
